| Engineering Examinations The Engineering Fundamentals Examination (Exam I) and the Engineering Principles and Practice Examination (Exam II) are administered twice a year. Spring examinations are held in April and fall examinations are held in October each year. The North Carolina Board utilizes the examination service provided by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), and the exact dates are therefore dependent on dates established by NCEES. These same examinations are held in other states on the same dates. Scoring of the examinations is performed by NCEES. Both Exam I and Exam II are eight (8) hours in length. Land Surveying Examinations The Land Surveying Fundamentals (Exam I) and the Land Surveying Principles and Practice Examination (Exam II) are administered twice a year. Spring examinations are held in April and fall examinations are held in October each year. Exam II is an eight (8) hour open book examination. The first portion of this examination is six (6) hours long. Examination Procedure The exact date and place of each examination will be announced on a Seating Notice furnished to each examinee prior to examination. During the open book examinations, any bound reference material may be used by the examinees. Battery operated, silent, non-printing calculators may be utilized during the examinations. Calculating and computing devices having a QWERTY keypad arrangement similar to a typewriter are not permitted. Such devices include but are not limited to palmtop, laptop, handheld, and desktop computers, calculators, databanks, data collectors and organizers. Calculators with alphanumeric keypads are permitted. |
