To be eligible to be certified by the Board as a Surveyor Intern an applicant must first possess one of the following per G. S. 89C-13(b)(1) and 21 NCAC 56.0602:
- Be a graduate of a four year surveying curriculum or other equivalent curriculum approved by the Board (minimum 45 semester hours of surveying courses).
- Have an associate’s degree in surveying technology approved by the Board (minimum 20 semester hours of surveying courses), and a record satisfactory to the Board of four years of progressive practical surveying experience, two years of which shall have been under a Professional Land Surveyor.
- Have graduated from high school or completed a high school equivalency certificate, and a record satisfactory to the Board of 10 years of progressive practical surveying experience, six years of which shall be under a Professional Land Surveyor.
Pass the Fundamentals of Surveying exam.
Complete the free application.
Have three character references, at least one of which being a Professional Land Surveyor, submit completed reference forms in sealed envelopes with their signatures across the back flaps.
Applicant orders official transcripts to be submitted to the Board office, unless NCEES has an official verified transcript on file. Educational institutions can send transcripts via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All applicants, except those with a B. S. in Surveying, complete Evidence of Experience section of application.
